October on Two Wheels – New Skills, Big Smiles and Plenty to Celebrate!
What a busy October we've had at The Cornwall Bicycle Project!
From first pedal strokes and off-road adventures to workshop qualifications, community events and preparations for our Christmas campaigns, it's been a month full of achievements, opportunities and plenty of smiles!
48 Young Riders Take on Learn to Ride! 🌟
Half-term saw Sarah, Tracey and Adam welcome 48 young riders to our FREE, funded Bikeability Learn to Ride sessions at Mount Hawke School and Par Track.

There were wobbles, moments of frustration, plenty of laughter and some fantastic breakthroughs as our young cyclists worked towards pedalling independently.
Watching a child suddenly realise "I'm doing it!" never gets old! Those enormous smiles and proud faces make it all worthwhile.

Not everyone quite cracked it this time, but every attempt counts, and sometimes just one more session is all it takes.
A huge well done to all our riders for their determination and perseverance!
Off-Road Adventures at Poldice 🚵♂️
Our youth riders headed to Poldice Valley for a coached mountain bike ride, developing their bike-handling skills, tackling varied terrain and putting their techniques into practice.
There was plenty of enthusiasm, encouragement and teamwork as everyone embraced the challenges of off-road riding.
A brilliant opportunity to build skills, confidence and a love of adventure!
Powering Pedals – AQA Success! 🔧
A huge congratulations to Ryan, Sam and Curtis at our St Austell Workshop, who achieved their AQA Unit Awards in Cycle Mechanics through our Powering Pedals Programme, funded by National Grid.

The programme gives young people valuable hands-on experience in bicycle maintenance and repair, helping them develop practical skills, independence and potential pathways into further training or employment.
We're incredibly proud of their achievements and grateful to National Grid for supporting the programme.
Growing Our Coaching Team! 🎉
Congratulations also go to Molly, Simon, Laurence and Jacob, who successfully completed their British Cycling Introduction to Coaching course!
We're delighted that Simon, Laurence and Jacob will continue to be part of our team and look forward to welcoming Molly on board.
It's fantastic to see more people developing the skills to inspire and support others through cycling.
Inclusive Cycling – Sunshine and New Beginnings ☀️
Our Wednesday adapted cycling session at Par Track enjoyed some beautiful autumn sunshine, along with several new riders keen to explore our range of adapted cycles.

It was particularly lovely to welcome a lady hoping to regain her confidence on a bike.
Helping people rediscover the freedom and independence cycling can bring is exactly why we do what we do!
Our wonderful regulars brought their usual laughter, friendship and good humour, making it another memorable Wednesday.
Family Adventures Across Goss Moor 🌿

We also enjoyed a fabulous family ride across Goss Moor, giving families the chance to explore Cornwall's beautiful trails together.

Fresh air, great company and plenty of pedalling – what better way to spend an afternoon?
Wadebridge Bike Lights – What a Night! ✨🚴♀️

October also saw the much-anticipated return of Wadebridge Bike Lights, and what an incredible evening it was!
We were delighted to support Wadebridge Town Team in bringing this much-loved community event back to the streets of Wadebridge.
Over 400 riders of all ages took part in the spectacular Glow Ride, with beautifully decorated bicycles, colourful costumes and dazzling lights creating a wonderful procession through the town.

Our team helped with registration, mechanical checks and marshalling, ensuring riders could enjoy the event safely.
With crowds lining the streets to cheer everyone on, the atmosphere was fantastic and a brilliant celebration of cycling and community spirit.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in making the return of Bike Lights such a success!
Celebrating Our Community Supporters ♻️

A massive thank you to Col at Alpkit for another incredibly generous donation of preloved cycling kit!
The items will be put to good use through our shop or passed directly to riders who can benefit from them.
It's a fantastic example of our commitment to reducing waste, reusing resources and making cycling more affordable and accessible.
Welcoming Local Councillors 🚲
We were delighted to welcome Councillors Jack Yelland and Mark Young to our St Austell workshop, and Councillor James Ball to Camborne.

The visits provided an opportunity to showcase our cycle mechanics training, alternative education provision, Learn to Fix sessions, Bike MOTs and community outreach activities.

We also shared details of our social rides and inclusive cycling programmes, highlighting the many ways cycling supports local communities.
We're looking forward to welcoming Jack and Mark to Par Track, and James to Carn Brea, to experience our adapted cycling provision first-hand.
Thank you all for taking the time to visit!
Inspiring Future Careers at the Eden Project
Adam and Sarah attended the DWP Careers Fair at the Eden Project, chatting with young adults about employment opportunities within the cycling industry.

From cycle mechanics and coaching to inclusive cycling, ride leadership and community development, there's a wide range of career pathways to explore.
It was a great opportunity to share our experiences and highlight how training, volunteering and practical skills can open doors to future employment.
Creating Communities by Bike – Our Crowdfunder! 💚
Kathy and the team have been busy behind the scenes preparing for the launch of our crowdfunding campaign, Creating Communities by Bike: Reduce, Reuse & Ride, on Monday 9th November!
From organising fundraising activities and gathering support to spreading the word, there's been plenty happening ahead of the big launch.
We're raising vital funds to continue and expand our work across Cornwall, making cycling more accessible, inclusive and sustainable.
Thanks to Aviva's match funding, eligible donations of up to £250 will be matched, meaning contributions could go twice as far!
We've got some exciting fundraising activities planned throughout November and December, so keep an eye on our website and social media for ways to get involved.
Give a Bike a New Home This Christmas! 🎄
Our Christmas Bike Campaign is also getting underway!
We're appealing for donations of unwanted children's bicycles that our workshop teams can repair, refurbish and give a new lease of life.

It's a great opportunity to clear out those outgrown bikes, reduce waste and help another child experience the joy of cycling.
We're currently accepting children's bikes only, with donations welcome at our St Austell and Camborne workshops through to January.
What a Month! 💚
From helping children take their first independent pedal strokes to celebrating qualifications, welcoming new faces and bringing communities together at events like Wadebridge Bike Lights, October has been a brilliant reminder of just how much can be achieved through cycling.
A huge thank you to our staff, volunteers, funders, partners and everyone who has supported or joined us throughout the month.
Here's to more adventures, new opportunities and plenty more happy miles in November!
Ride – Connect – Change 💚
