Enrichment Provision
At The Cornwall Bicycle Project: Life Recycle, we aim to not only grant bicycles a new lease on life but also to offer Enrichment Provision for young people facing challenges in conventional education and training. Our objective is to establish a supportive and nurturing atmosphere by working closely with schools, colleges and youth engagement programmes to develop customized learning, whether on-site or within the school premises. This approach empowers these young individuals to thrive and achieve success.

Harry's Story...
Referred to us via Cornwall Council’s Youth Engagement Programme (YEP!), Harry, who has High Functioning Autism began his journey with us as a student in March 2025 on a 10-week placement. It became apparent very quickly Harry has an incredible knowledge of bicycles and mechanics. Working through his 10 weeks, we noticed huge progression and looked for ways to plan to have Harry continue with the project beyond his placement. Harry continues to be a valued member of our mechanics team. His confidence has flourished, and he has become a great fit within our team. He regularly pushes himself and is genuinely valued by everyone he works with. Since completing his placement and joining us as a volunteer, he has achieved his AQA qualifications at both Entry Level and Level 1. He has also completed our project safeguarding training and gained his Cytech Level 1 qualification last summer. We were thrilled to welcome Harry as a member of staff for two days a week from October 2025. His journey stands as an inspiration to other young adults participating in our programmes.

After facing significant challenges in early life, 18 year old Lewis struggled with confidence, direction, and mental wellbeing. With support from his Young People Advisor from Pentreath, his passion for mountain biking led him to The Cornwall Bicycle Project, where he was encouraged to volunteer and develop practical skills in a supportive environment. Initially, joining the project was daunting due to high levels of anxiety. However, through supportive staff, welcoming environments, and meaningful involvement, confidence began to grow. Over time, the project became more than a placement – it became a community. Feelings of anxiety and depression reduced significantly, replaced by a sense of belonging, structure, and self-worth. Being part of The Cornwall Bicycle Project supported positive personal growth, helping him move away from previous behaviours and develop maturity, confidence, and long-term aspirations. For the first time, he began to see a future with real opportunities and goals worth pursuing. Through hands-on experience, training, and mentoring, he has developed practical skills and pride in contributing—supporting others, assisting with rides, and being part of something that makes a genuine difference. He has since completed his Cytec Level 1 training and is now progressing further—having been accepted onto an apprenticeship with TCBP in bicycle mechanics. He feels proud of what he has achieved and credits The Cornwall Bicycle Project with helping him rebuild confidence, set goals, and work towards a successful and positive future.
